Uralla :: Thunderbolt Country
Nestled in a picturesque pocket of the New England, Uralla typifies the peace and tranquillity of rural Australia. The surrounding countryside also reflects a timeless grandeur at places like Gostwyck Station where the tiny roadside chapel highlights the famous autumnal colours of the area.
West of Uralla is Mt Yarrowyck where ancient Aboriginal artworks can be found. Dangar's Lagoon, home to hundreds of bird and animal species is just 5 kilometres south. The Hassett's Military Museum, McCrossin's Mill, home of Thunderbolt memorabilia and local history and the New England Brass and Iron Lace Foundry built in 1872 are some of the 'must see's.
An excellent smorgasbord of art and craft stores, country cafes and cosy restaurants are scattered throughout a township boasting building styles from the 1860's through to the present day.
